5 Questions to Ask When Hiring a Pallet Delivery Company

If you send a lot of shipments from your work, you probably need pallets, and you may want to contact a company to set up pallet delivery. When choosing a company to meet your needs, consider asking the following questions:

How Many Pallets Can You Deliver?

To ensure you select a pallet delivery service that can truly meet your needs, you should ask how many pallets they can deliver. Ideally, you want to be able to get as many pallets as you need both now and in the future. To make that possible, you should choose a company that can deliver anything from a single pallet to a whole truckload of pallets. Then, as you scale up your business, you don't have to look for a new pallet company.

Do You Guarantee the Condition of the Pallets?

Beyond quantity, you need to think about the quality of the pallets you get. If a pallet is poor quality, it may break while you are putting it on a forklift or it may not be able to hold the weight of your items. To ensure that you don't face issues such as that, ask the delivery company if they can guarantee quality. Also, make sure that you're on the same page in terms of what quality means. A missing nail might not be that big of a deal, but you probably don't want pallets that are missing whole slats or that are rotting.

Do You Offer Quality Designations?

While speaking about quality, you may want to ask about international quality designations. For instance, if you are putting food on the pallets, you want pallet materials that are safe for that. On the other hand, you may want to only have pallets with an ISPM 15 rating. When pallets have this rating, you know that they have been treated in a way that makes them safe for international shipments.

Can You Pick Up Old Pallets?

A lot of businesses use pallets repeatedly, but eventually those pallets may need to be disposed of. So that you don't have to worry about doing that on your own, you should see if the pallet delivery company can pick up and dispose of old pallets for you. Depending on their business model, they may even be able to recondition the old pallets they get from you.

Do You Have Extras?

Finally, you may want to ask about optional extras such as load protector pads. These go on the top of the pallet to protect the shipment from direct contact with the wood. Ideally, you should get a sense of all the company's offerings before you hire them.

About Me

A Guide to Industrial Equipment Welcome to my blog. My name is Eric. For the past few years, I have been researching how Australian industry operates. It has taken me many hours of self-guided study and interviews with industry insiders to reach a point where I feel comfortable starting this blog. I love the idea of being able to offer advice to others. Although I never got to work in the industrial sector, I have always taken a keen interest in it and I was very proud of the fact my father worked in an industrial unit for his entire life. I hope you like this blog!
